Mary Ware Dennett was an artist, interior designer, suffragette, and anti-war advocate. Her most significant contribution was towards birth control reform.
During her tenure as the literature coordinator at the National American Woman Suffrage Association, she wrote several influential essays on the birth control movement.
In 1915, she founded the National Birth Control League, which was the first organisation in the United States dedicated to birth control.
