Elizabeth Cochran, known as Nellie Bly, was an investigative journalist who used her pen name to go undercover in the 1880s.
She became famous for her reporting on the unfair treatment of patients at a notorious asylum on Blackwell's Island, which led to improvements in conditions for the mentally ill.
In 1889, Bly broke the world record for circumnavigating the globe in just 72 days. Her life and work have been celebrated in the movie "10 Days in a Madhouse".
